Kurt James II moves to Mersch as well

Kurt James signs a contract to play for Black Star Mersch

We are proud to announce that our client, Kurt James II, has signed with Black Star Mersch for the upcoming 2025/26 season in Luxembourg’s Nationale 2. The club has set a clear objective for the year: promotion to the Total League, and Kurt’s arrival is a decisive step toward reaching that goal.

Standing at 195 cm (6′5″) and playing as a versatile forward (3/4), Kurt brings a wealth of international experience and proven success. Over the past two seasons in Malta, he played with Starlites GIG and most recently with Gzira Athleta, where he became one of the league’s most impactful players.

In the 2024/25 season with Gzira Athleta, Kurt appeared in 16 games and delivered outstanding all-around numbers: 27.0 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting an impressive 65.0% from two-point range and 58.0% overall from the field. He added 32.3% from beyond the arc and 67.8% at the free-throw line, showing efficiency across multiple scoring areas.

The season before, in 2023/24 with Starlites, he averaged 20.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, while hitting 46.3% from three-point range.

Kurt’s achievements speak for themselves: Maltese League Champion (2024), BOV Knock-Out Trophy Winner (2024), All-Maltese League Second Team (2025), and several earlier honors in Portugal and the U.S. collegiate system. His ability to score, rebound, and create for teammates makes him a complete forward perfectly suited for Mersch’s ambitions.
