Heinrich Sports is pleased to announce that JJ Chestnut has officially signed his first professional contract with the Rheingas Elephants Grevenbroich in Germany. The 24-year-old point guard from Watervliet, New York, joins the Elephants after four seasons at the College of Staten Island, where he improved steadily every year.
In his senior season, Chestnut averaged 13.2 points, 5.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game, shot 39.5 percent from three and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line. He ranked fourth in the East Coast Conference in assists, and his season earned him a spot on the All-ECC Second Team.
At 1.89 m, Chestnut is a point guard with good size who can score at all three levels, reads the game well and creates for his teammates out of the pick-and-roll. As a former team captain, he brings the leadership and team-first mindset the Elephants are looking for. We are proud to support JJ as he takes this first step in his professional career and wish him a successful season in Grevenbroich.
